RÈGLE(S) ET MÉTARÈGLES DANS L'APPROCHE CATÉGORIELLE DE LAMBEK

Abstract : This article analyzes categorial grammars's theoretical choice to develop syntaxes using a minimum of algebraic rules. After having retraced the history of the progressive constitution of the rules (from Lambek's syntactic calculus to the proliferation of rules in the 80s), the study focuses on Lambek's last model (the pregroup grammar) and proceeds to a critical analysis of the methodological decision to use a model combining the action of two universal rules with the local application of metarules specific to each studied language.
