Devenir enseignant de français langue étrangère en Libye : analyse des enjeux actuels et proposition d’un programme de formation contextualisé

Abstract : This research examines the training of future EFL teachers who encounter difficulties after graduation, both in terms of insufficient linguistic and professional skills to teach and in terms of the tools and knowledge needed to pursue studies abroad. Drawing on the training system, we analyze the linguistic, pragmatic and disciplinary contents of the training after having studied the geopolitical and socio-economic context of the country. The articulation of the different contextual elements with the theoretical aspects leads to a precise research problem. It deals with the way in which the Libyan state is concerned with the development of future language teachers in its educational policy, but especially with the way in which university institutions function in terms of organization, social practice and access to knowledge. A survey consisting of a combination of questionnaires and interviews provides data that are analyzed using intra-discourse and "para-discourse" analytical tools. The cross-reading of quantitative and qualitative data reveals that current training programs are flawed and fallible. It questions teacher competence due to the lack of specific preparation for teaching, further study in France, the use of ICT, and the persistence of traditional approaches to teaching. Three essential notions emerge from this research: motivation, social harmony and autonomy. Based on these results, we propose contextualized programs in two parts that offer beneficiaries the means to project themselves serenely into the professional or academic environment.
